At The New Scholar, we take protecting the privacy of our authors and reviewers very seriously. This Privacy Statement outlines how we collect, use, and safeguard personal information when you hold an account on our student platform. When you have an account at The New Scholar, we collect the following information:

To enhance the publication process, we also collect and safeguard: 

  • Surname 
  • Affiliation 
  • Study program 
  • Academic interests 
  • User-generated content (such as submissions, review forms, feedback and correspondence) 

To enrich your profile at The New Scholar, it is possible but not obligatory to share other personal information, such as: 

  • Phone number 
  • Languages 
  • A profile picture 
  • Your ORCID iD 
  • A hyperlink to your personal website, LinkedIn or ResearchGate profile 

 

  2. Use of personal information 

We use your information for the following purposes: 

  • To create and manage your account, enabling access to the publication process 
  • To communicate with you regarding your contribution as an author or reviewer 
  • To publish your own or reviewed work our open access journal, in line with our Copyright License Agreement

We prioritize the protection of your personal information. We do not share your details with third parties for any other purpose.

We retain your personal information for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes outlined in the Privacy Statement of this journal.

We take appropriate technical and organizational security measures to ensure that your data is securely stored. We do this in accordance with the applicable legal requirements and guidelines.

You have several privacy rights. You can exercise the following rights: 

  • Access: to know what personal data we process;
  • Erasure: deletion of your data;
  • Rectification: correction of inaccurate data;
  • Supplement: addition of incomplete data;
  • Restriction of processing: to limit processing to only essential personal data; and
  • Objection: to object to the processing of your data by us.
